My name is Scott Campbell, author of The Ten Testaments: Lessons from the Greatest Teacher of All Time. Early in my adulthood, I sought self-fulfillment through wealth and status. Over time, my quest for monetary success left me feeling unhappy and empty inside. I eventually discovered true success hidden in the principles that Jesus taught in the parables of the New Testament. Many people find it difficult to understand the message behind the parables taught by Jesus. I wrote The Ten Testaments to help clarify and summarize Jesus’ teachings into ten easy-to-understand principles.

BLOG MISSION – To help you share your thoughts and values with a community that shares similar Christian thoughts and values like those illustrated in The Ten Testaments: Lessons from the Greatest Teacher of All Time.
In the coming weeks, I will expand on biblical themes such as: love, forgiveness, humility, faith, materialism, thanksgiving, service, honesty, enthusiasm, and obedience. It is my hope that you will gain valuable insight into your own life and be able to see further opportunities to lead an even stronger Christian lifestyle.

Materialism series by Scott Campbell

Are you looking for a break from your hectic lifestyle to enjoy more time with friends and family? Chances are, you find yourself spending your weekends cleaning house, doing laundry, or maintaining your vehicles or yard. As an author and full-time salesperson, I often agonize at the beginning of the weekend whether to begin a home improvement project I keep putting off, or to enjoy precious quality time with my wife and two daughters in one of our favorite pursuits such as hiking, biking or swimming.

Many of us are like the rich, young man in Mark: 17 of the New Testament. The young man approached Jesus to ask, “What must I do to achieve eternal life?” Jesus told him to sell his possessions and give his money to the poor. The young man walked away from the teacher and became sad because he did not want to give up his earthly possessions that gave him comfort and security.

Like the young man, many find it difficult to not focus on their possessions and materialistic lifestyles. They often become consumed with the acquiring of bigger and better possessions, not realizing that true comfort comes from owning fewer items. Jesus wants us to concentrate not on the outer material world, but on the inner thoughts and spiritual world for true happiness and abundant living.

How important are your possessions to you? In what ways are you trying to shift from a materialistic viewpoint to a more spiritual viewpoint? How challenging is it for you to decide between the care of your possessions and time to enjoy with loved ones?

Ash Wednesday begins the lenten season of forgiveness. Lent is a season to examine our conscience on a very personal level. We need to look back on the past few months to see if we have offended any of our neighbors intentionally or by accident.
Lent is a great time to listen to an audio bible or read inspirational bible verses. My new book The Ten Testaments: Lessons From The Greatest Teacher Of All Time explores ten principles that Jesus Christ taught in the New Testament of The Holy Bible. The book includes bible quotes and bible lessons for children as well as adults. The book presents Jesus’ teachings on love, forgiveness, humility, faith, materialism, thanksgiving, honesty, service, enthusiasm and obedience. It’s a great tool to use for bible study lessons for groups and individuals.

Please take a moment to read Chapter Two on Forgiveness.
